There was also an antique shop or two in the area I wish I could have stopped at, if we were driving home I would have wanted to shop for second hand treasures. Make sure to go next door to their home store (fun cocktail/mocktail items), candles, dishes and so much more. We loved this little spot! The Barn looks like a great option for breakfast (The Inn comes with a more continental breakfast, so if you are looking for lunch or a bigger meal – you could try here). On our list for next time, as it was closed the night of our stay The Red Dory overlooks the Sakonnet River and their menu has Mediterranean-style seafood dishes are supported by local famers and fishermen.

The setting is serene, and on a nice summer day they have the windows open with outdoor seating.I recommend trying their ‘Hall of Fame Chowder’ – Chorizo, Maine shrimp, sweet corn, corn bread crumble. The spot we chose was a wonderful surprise, right on the water and only a 20 minute minute drive from the Inn.

You can have s’mores by the fire at night by their fire pit, (perfect for summer or during the off season).Īlthough we loved soaking up the rural, tranquil feeling you can’t help but enjoy, we opted for a scenic dinner out after the Stone House Inn’s happy hour. One of their indoor rooms has games to choose from and they offer umbrellas and beach chairs for your stay. Our room had a keurig, and there was also 24 hour tea/coffee station in the lobby.

Part of your $20 resort fee includes free wine and cheese/crackers in the evening, as well as a free breakfast with fresh brewed coffee in the morning. Take a ride to Sakonnet Lighthouse and walk on the pebbled beach one day and the next, ride on the walking trail at the end of the property to explore gorgeous beaches with no crowds. My favorite part of our stay were the free bikes that I highly suggest taking advantage of. I recommend calling to make your reservation – they were so helpful with booking, room selection, and answering any questions I had. There are suite options varying in size – so choose what works best for you, and your budget! There are rooms in the main house (we stayed in the ‘Bailey’ Room) as well as the ocean view barn studio suites. We mainly wanted to stay on sight (the grounds are beautiful and you don’t need to go far to explore the gorgeous coastline of Rhode Island).

The Inn was originally a private residence built in 1854 and recently went through 12 million dollars worth of renovations – it is an historic beauty.Īs Rhode Islanders, we don’t make it to farther part of the states (after all, the state is small so we don’t love long distances) ). This trip, we wanted to have night away before life gets a little busier, and although I did a brief search in Newport or Block Island, we landed on The Stone House Inn thanks to a family recommendation. During warmer months I often go back to my favorite spots, eat the lobster rolls and quahogs I crave so much and embrace all the nostalgia of being home. Similar to the season of Fall, there is just something about this season in New England.
